Toluwanisings Death Reports Spark Anxiety, Prayers Across Nigeria
The Nigerian gospel music community has been thrown into anxiety and uncertainty following widespread reports that popular gospel singer Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, professionally known as Toluwanisings, has passed away, triggering emotional reactions and desperate appeals for prayers from fellow musicians, entertainers and admirers.
The disturbing reports emerged on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after prominent lawyer and Convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA), Pelumi Olajengbesi, shared an emotional message on social media expressing grief over the reported death of the gospel artiste. His post immediately attracted widespread attention, with many Nigerians expressing shock over the development.
Olajengbesi lamented the increasing reports of young Nigerians losing their lives, describing the situation as deeply troubling. Sharing a photograph of Toluwanisings, he appealed for divine mercy and declared his opposition to untimely death. His message sparked an outpouring of concern among followers of the singer, whose music and worship ministrations have attracted audiences within Nigeria’s gospel music community.
However, the development took another dimension when popular gospel comedian and entertainer Woli Agba appealed to Nigerians not to jump to conclusions, indicating that prayers were still ongoing. In an emotional message, he wrote, “Please hold on. Please don’t conclude. We are trusting God. Please.” His intervention introduced uncertainty into the circulating reports, raising hopes among admirers awaiting reliable information about the singer’s condition.
Other gospel artistes, including Boyebest and Lanre Alewilese, also joined the appeals for prayers, urging the public to remain hopeful rather than circulate unverified information. The conflicting reactions generated widespread discussion on social media, with some Nigerians questioning the reports while others called for an official clarification from the singer’s family or management.
Toluwanisings, an Osun State-born gospel singer and songwriter, is known for his energetic worship performances and inspirational songs, including Kos’Oluwa Laye. His musical activities have earned him recognition among gospel music enthusiasts, particularly those who appreciate indigenous Yoruba praise and worship.
Interestingly, the singer and members of his musical crew reportedly survived a serious road accident in July 2026 while returning from a gospel ministration. Their vehicle was involved in an incident with a heavy trailer, but the occupants survived. Toluwanisings subsequently expressed gratitude to God for their escape, describing the experience as a testimony of divine protection.
As of the time of this report, the circumstances surrounding the singer’s reported death remained unclear, while no official confirmation from his immediate family or authorised representatives had been established. The development has once again highlighted the importance of verifying sensitive information, particularly reports involving life and death, before circulating them publicly.
For now, admirers of Toluwanisings and members of the gospel music community continue to await authoritative information, as prayers, concern and uncertainty surround the reported incident.
